Happy anniversary of ONE Tom of Finland Collection

Safer Sex is a Work of Art. ONE is committed to promoting sexual health through artistry and self-expression. We’re proud to partner with artists around the globe to start conversations about safer sex.

We recognize that men who have sex with men (MSM), particularly MSM of color, are disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS. As passionate safer sex advocates, our team at ONE is committed to making condoms interesting and relevant through art.

A year ago at the world famous leather festival, Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco, ONE launched the first-ever line of condoms featuring 24 works of art by Tom of Finland (Touko Laaksonen, Finnish, 1920-1991). The late artist is widely considered the most influential creator of homoerotic art, and his work is celebrated across the world. The condoms come in two popular ONE condom styles: Legend XL and Super Sensitive

The collection is the result of a unique collaboration between ONE and the Tom of Finland Foundation, which Tom of Finland established in 1984 with his partner, Durk Dehner, who serves as its president today. A portion of all sales of the Tom of Finland Condoms continues to support the Foundation in its mission to preserve the artist's legacy and protect the work and careers of erotic artists worldwide.

“The ONE brand shares the Foundation’s commitment to promoting healthier attitudes about sexuality,” said Dehner, “Tom of Finland was dubbed ‘the Michelangelo of safe sex,’ promoting sexual health, particularly among gay men.”

During the 1980s, at the height of the AIDS crisis, Tom of Finland began including condoms in his drawings to help curb the epidemic.

Since the launch of the ONE Tom of Finland Collection one year ago, we’ve worked with health departments, non-profit organizations, and adult stores to bring Tom of Finland’s legacy and message of healthy sexuality to communities across the country.

Today, on National Gay Men’s HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, we’re celebrating—and thanking—all our partners across the country who are doing HIV testing, linking people to treatment and care, providing PrEP & PEP services, providing sex positive health care to LGBTQ communities, distributing condoms—and so much more. Thank you for doing the important work to make sure people can make healthy decisions when it comes to sex and sexuality.
